The original school in Hampton Hill was in School Road (where Sterling Office Supplies was) and was opened in 1851.

We have all the log books from that period and they provide a wonderful history of their school, including a half-day closure when WG Grace played cricket on Twickenham Green!

The present school building was opened in 1928 to cope with increasing numbers.  We have the admission registers for this period and they outline an amazing story of families, especially during the war years.

We have found the punishment book and a range of photos from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

In the 1970’s the school was popular and numbers had grown to the degree that the building had to be extended, with the hall, kitchens and staff room added at the front.

Since 1988 there have been a number of important developments to the site, providing high quality specialist facilities for the children and enabling the school to deliver an exciting, varied and rich curriculum.

In the early 90’s the office were moved to the front of the school and the staff room upstairs.  The huge kitchens were greatly reduced in size and a music room, three group teaching rooms and a children’s kitchen were built.

The library was also developed in the main entrance area providing a wonderful welcome to the school.

A small computer room was built in 1998 which allowed half classes to be taught ICT as a discrete subject.

Since 2003, we have raised £750,000 through grants, fundraising, donations and sponsorship.  This has enabled us to really transform the school with the following:

  • New Computer Suite, initially with 18 computers and now 34 machines

  • Upgraded toilets and cloakrooms

  • Improved office and medial facilities

  • Sensory Garden, along the Windmill road side of the school

  • Art & design Centre – opened in June 2006 – now used for Art, Breakfast and After-School Clubs and by the local community

  • A new activity/imagination zone opened in June 2007, with an amphitheatre, shade and climbing area.  It is all set on artificial grass which means it can be used every day.

We continue to look for ways to develop and are currently planning to make use of the caretaker s property, adjacent to the school.
