Children's Sustainability Conference 2010

On Tuesday 15th June 65 children from 30 schools, aged 6 - 11, came to HHJS for the 2nd Borough
School's Eco-Conference.  The children took part in different workshops dealing with recycling and climate change and then enjoyed
a healthy, sustainable lunch!

MATHS WEEK 7TH -11TH JUNE 2010

The whole school was involved in making a 'live' bar chart during maths week which
as you can see from the photo below was very effective;

!! CHICKENS !!
We have taken delivery today of 4 chickens!! We will let you know how they are settling in
after Half Term and also the names the children have chosen for them.

YEAR 6 TAG RUGBY TEAM
Our Year 6 Tag Rugby team were lucky enough to go to Twickenham Stadium
last week to watch the Senior England Rugby team train.  They thoroughly enjoyed the trip
as you can see below and managed to get some autographs!!

 

MORE GREEN NEWS - WE HAVE NOW BEEN AWARDED A GREEN FLAG WHICH YOU SHOULD SEE FLYING SOON

GREEN GUARDIAN AWARD - FRIDAY 26TH FEBRUARY

We are delighted to announce that we have again won the
Green Guardian Award for the 'greenest' school
in the South-West of London.  Members of staff attended the
Award Ceremony on Friday and were delighted to collect the Certificate
and a 'lemon tree'!


FILM CLUB SUCCESS
Our Year 6 Film Club entered the 'Scientific Edge Film Competition'
and were delighted to be one of two schools that won the Award for
"Best Overall Film" at the Borough's Science Film Festival.

A big well done to all involved

WINNER OF TEACHING AWARD FOR BEST SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL IN LONDON

The televised finals of The National Teaching Awards were held on Sunday 25th October at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
The 'gold plato' for the best national sustainable school was awarded to a secondary school in Coventry who have done
amazing things with their farm and gardens. 

 

 

 

 

Henry VII's musical at Hampton Court Palace - June 09

It was an absolute pleasure to be at Hampton Court on Saturday 27th June to watch our two choirs perform alongside Carlisle Infants, Hampton Juniors, LEH and Hampton Boys in King Henry's Revel.  It was brilliant and the quality of the singing was outstanding.

UPDATE!!

CONTACT DURING THE SUMMER
If you need to contact the school urgently during the holidays please phone the school line on 020 8979 3019 and leave a message.  Messages will be listened to regularly and calls returned if necessary.

UNIFORM ORDERS
If you wish to order uniform urgently during the holidays please download the order form and email it to HHJSUniformShop@hotmail.co.uk.  If available, some uniform can be delivered/collected as arranged by email with the Uniform shop.

MONDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER           Children return to school at 09.00amYear 3 children will start at 09.30am on the first day only and will be met in the playground by the staff.

 

Road Safety

Please do not
i) Park on the yellow zig zags outside school
ii) Stop in the middle of the road to drop children
iii) Do three point turns in St James’ Ave.
iv) Use the staff car park gate to turn around in
 v) Park across our neighbour's driveways.
